In late November I recorded a special edition of the popular podcast Do The Right Thing with regulars Danielle Ward, Michael Legge and Margaret Cabourn-Smith. I was one guest, Stuart Maconie was the other, and a lot of fun was had. You can hear the results in 2020, I’m told.
I had the sad duty of writing a newspaper obituary for that fine actor Ian Cullen, who died very suddenly in November. I interviewed Ian a few times and pay tribute to him here.
The film Six Minutes To Midnight was in good shape at the cast and crew screening in November. It will be released in early 2020 and stars Eddie Izzard, Jim Broadbent, Judi Dench, James D’Arcy, Carla Juri, David Schofield, Nigel Lindsay, Kevin Eldon and … a little further down the cast list… me!
I’ll be MCing XS Malarkey as usual. Each Tuesday between now and Christmas we’ll have a fantastic line-up and our guests will include Dark Lord of comedy Andrew O’Neill and circuit veteran Steve Gribbin making his long awaited Malarkey debut (it’s only taken 22 years!). Also, in a new initiative to expand our comedy calendar into other days of the week, we’ve started XS Malarkey Presents… which will feature the very best touring shows – Edinburgh Award nominee Jess Fostekew is the next one, which is fabulous news. Listings details are available at the XS Malarkey Website.
I’ve just done another presenting job for the BBC Blu-ray range – it’s for a box set to be announced shortly. I think this documentary may prove to be my favourite so far – and its subject matter is the most arcane yet!
